Due to possible rain, weather or saturated playground, we will have pick-up on the south side of the library and cafeteria. Please follow the usual pick-up route, and you will be detoured to the pick-up area. Please stay as a one car lane. Thank you for your patience and understanding. From the Child Nutrition Department: We are committed to providing every student in our school community with all the tools they need to succeed, including nutritious meals that everyone can enjoy together. We are excited to announce that this year, we are using a new school meal program option to offer school breakfast and lunch every day to all students at no charge. We will meet in the MPR-Cafeteria for introductions and then head over to your teacher’s classroom. The schedule is as follows: Kindergarten thru-2nd Grade at 5 p.m. and 3rd thru 5th Grade at 5:45 p.m. Preschool will have their event on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. Please see the flyer for more information or visit us on Facebook or Website. Joe Carlson is excited to announce the End-of-Year Dance for students on Friday, May 17th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Your child and family are invited to join the fun and celebrate with their classmates! Students are not allowed to come by themselves; an adult must accompany them. A concession stand will be available to purchase food, snacks, and drinks (cash only).
We would be delighted if you and your child could join us for our end-of-the-year dance.

As a reminder, students will be dismissed today at 1:00 p.m. and our regular early release Wednesdays will resume beginning today. Please contact our office if you have any questions.

As a reminder, student pick up after school is at the north gates located on at the playground area of the school. Only students who are picked up by DUSD Transportation, Day Care, Caring Connections and Preschool will report to the front office breezeway. Students walking home through the front area of the school will be escorted to the crosswalk by staff on Louis Ave.
When picking up students from the playground gates, please make sure to be cautious and vigilant of students and parents who walk with their children. One of the priorities of Joe Carlson is everyone’s safety and well-being.

Please make sure to contact our office if your child is going to be absent or has an unexcused absence. It is important that absences are verified on a daily basis. In addition, it is important that our students are at school on time. Breakfast is served from 7:30-8:00 a.m. in the cafeteria and classes begin at 8:00 a.m. Please contact our office if you have any questions.
