Faras Elementary School

Red Ribbon Week has concluded and we would like to take a moment to thank all the agencies that came out to visit Faras Elementary School this week. Our students had a full week and loved having everyone here! We appreciate everyone taking time out of their busy schedules to come talk to our students and educate them on the importance of living a drug-free life. Thank you to our Douglas City Mayor Huish, U.S Customs and Border Protection, Arizona Department of Corrections, Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas Police Department, Douglas Fire Department, Pirtleville Fire Department, and United States Border Patrol. We appreciate you!

We are kicking off Red Ribbon Week on Monday by wearing RED! Show your Red Ribbon Week spirit and lets make a sea of red! Here is a list of all the spirit days. Have a great weekend!

Hello Parents/Guardians: Just a quick reminder! We have picture make-up day tomorrow, Wednesday the 18th. This is ONLY for students who were absent on picture day. Please refer to the attached order form if you would like to order pictures. The photographer will also have order forms for you to use. We have early release this week on Wednesday the 4th AND Friday the 6th. Unleash Your Imagination: Arizona School Board Association (ASBA) Invites Students to Enter Artwork Contest! Share your students’ creativity with Arizonans statewide with the ASBA’s First Annual Student Artwork Contest. Art created by pre-K through 12th grade students in ASBA member districts is eligible for the contest. “Artistic expression is a powerful tool for growth and understanding, it empowers students to communicate their unique perspectives and engage with the world around them. Our student art contest aims to cultivate this creativity while celebrating the diverse talents across the Arizona school community,” said Mr. Devin Del Palacio, ASBA Executive Director. “We believe in the transformative power of the arts in education, and this program is a testament to our commitment to fostering an environment where students can express themselves, innovate, and shape their futures in vibrant colors.” The theme for this year’s contest is “Imagination Unleashed.” We encourage students to explore the boundless world of their thoughts, dreams and ideas. From fantastical creatures to futuristic cityscapes, the possibilities are endless. Find out more and submit your students’ entries through an online form on ASBA’s website at https://azsba.org/awards/student-awards/ between Aug. 1, 2023 and Oct. 31, 2023. The finalists’ artwork will be selected to be displayed at the ASBA-ASA Annual Conference, on the walls of the ASBA office in Phoenix and will be showcased in the ASBA Journal Magazine, ASBA Connect e-newsletter and on ASBA social media. Selected student winners will receive a $100 Visa gift card and a $100 donation to their school’s art department and/or art program.
