The overarching principle of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Directorate at Douglas Unified School District is to prepare our students to enter post secondary education and ultimately the workforce of the future.
All of our CTE programs provide the latest in instructional technology and integrate a research based approach to curriculum design and delivery. Students are provided a rich variety curriculum in our state of the art classrooms and labs, practical internships with local businesses and public service organizations.
With a focus on the development of our student’s leadership potential, academic as well as technical skills, we set the stage and provide a rich backdrop for their success after leaving their secondary educational experience at DUSD #27. With the development of meaningful career skills, our graduates can enter the work force as skilled workers or enter post secondary education, ultimately well prepared for the future.
Additional student leadership development opportunities are provided for all students in their respective Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO). These CTSO student opportunities include Skills USA AKA VICA, CCAP (Careers through Culinary Arts), DECA (Distributive Marketing and Educators Organizations of America), and HOSA (Health Occupations Student Association). These organizations and opportunities provide our students not only with leadership development opportunities, but also competitive events and scholarships |
